“The Resentment Marathon” – When Forgiveness Never Shows Up

Alyssa forgave nothing. She stored everything.
She brought up arguments from 2019 like they were breaking news. Her boyfriend, Terrence, couldn’t make a mistake without it being tied to a past mistake.
“You always do this,” she’d say.
Terrence started feeling like he wasn’t dating Alyssa—he was dating her memory of his worst moments.
He tried apologizing. He tried changing. But Alyssa didn’t release the past, so Terrence couldn’t escape it.
Eventually, Terrence found someone who didn’t punish him daily for old versions of himself.
Alyssa called it betrayal. Terrence called it survival.
Takeaway: If you keep reopening the wound, don’t be shocked when someone stops bleeding near you.
