Dr. Monica K. Harris

On the day of the photoshoot, it was more than just taking pictures — it was truly special to me. It was the first photoshoot I had done since before COVID, and so much had happened in my life since then. Life had thrown me challenge after challenge: yet another car accident of my own, and even more heartbreaking, my daughter being in a horrific car accident herself. Those experiences left me physically, emotionally, and mentally drained.

This photoshoot was something I chose to do just for me — a little self-care, a way to feel good about myself again and remind myself of who I am beyond all the pain and trials.

I carefully picked my outfits because I wanted them to reflect how I felt on the inside that day. I chose the black outfit because it was nice, sexy, and cute — a reminder that even through hard times, I could still feel beautiful and confident. I paired it with glass slippers because they reminded me of Cinderella, and honestly, that’s how I felt — like Cinderella getting her moment, stepping back into her own story after years of feeling hidden away.
