A BREAKFAST BRUNCH & LUNCH SPOT LOCATED IN MARIETTA GA. – ICONIQUE MAGAZINE FOOD REVIEW
Nestled in the heart of Marietta, Georgia, French Toast is a breakfast, brunch, and lunch destination that elevates traditional southern comfort food with a contemporary twist. From the moment you arrive, the restaurant exudes warmth and hospitality.
MEET THE CEO
My visit began with a memorable exchange at the door — a distinguished gentleman graciously held it open, offering a polite welcome. His demeanor immediately suggested ownership, though he humbly claimed to be “just the doorman.” With a smile, I pressed, “You must be the owner.” After a playful back-and-forth, he finally admitted with pride, “Yes, I am.” That charming first impression set the tone for the meal that followed.

Inside, the service was just as engaging. Mieshia G., my waitress, guided me through their seamless phone app ordering system and made a stellar recommendation: The fried red snapper with creamy southern grits, a fried egg, and a refreshing watermelon lemonade to sip alongside it. Trusting her suggestion was one of the best decisions I’ve made that day.

When my plate arrived, it was nothing short of inviting. The boneless fried snapper fillet was golden brown, delicately crisped, and artfully draped over a bed of buttery, creamy grits. The dish was elevated further by a rich Creole-inspired sauce, its bold flavors complementing the natural sweetness of caramelized peppers and onions. A sprinkle of cilantro added freshness and balance, while the fried egg on the side provided a velvety richness to tie everything together. Each bite was layered in texture — the crunch of the snapper, the smooth creaminess of the grits, and the subtle tang of the sauce — a true southern symphony.

I’M THIRSTY!!!
The beverage pairing, a watermelon lemonade refresher, was the kind of drink that lingers in your memory. Served chilled in a mason jar with a lemon garnish, it was the perfect combination of sweet and tart — a light, cooling contrast to the bold flavors of the entrée.

What stood out most about French Toast was not just the food, but the experience. From the owner greeting guests at the door, to Mieshia’s attentive service and excellent menu guidance, there’s an undeniable charm that makes dining here feel personal. It’s the kind of place where food is not just served, but shared with care and pride.

Service
Service at French Toast is personal and attentive without being overbearing. My waitress, Mieshia G., guided me with both warmth and expertise. She navigated me through the restaurant’s phone-based ordering system with ease and took the time to suggest her personal favorite: the fried red snapper fillet with creamy southern grits, a fried egg, and Creole sauce. Her confidence in the recommendation made it easy to say yes — and as I would soon discover, she was absolutely right.
Mieshia’s combination of friendliness and knowledge added to the feeling that French Toast is more than just a restaurant — it’s an experience curated by people who care.

The Main Dish
The boneless fried snapper fillet was cooked to perfection — its golden crust crisp and satisfying, giving way to tender, flaky fish inside. Resting on a velvety bed of southern-style grits, the fish was bathed in a bold, flavorful Creole sauce that struck the right balance between spice and richness. Topped with caramelized peppers and onions, the dish carried both vibrancy and comfort. A delicate cilantro garnish added a fresh, green note that tied the entire plate together.
The Egg
On the side, a perfectly fried egg brought an added layer of indulgence. Its runny yolk, when broken, mingled effortlessly with the grits and sauce, enhancing both flavor and texture. It was a simple yet luxurious complement.
The Drink
No brunch is complete without a refreshing drink, and the watermelon lemonade refresher did not disappoint. Served in a mason jar with a lemon wedge, it was a bright, cooling counterpoint to the richness of the entrée. Sweet, tangy, and thirst-quenching, it felt like summer in a glass — the perfect sip between bites.
