Iconique Magazine travels has taken me to the good city of Peoria Illinois, The home of Comedian Richard Prior. A well know comedian known for his uncompromising examinations of racism and topical contemporary issues, which employed colorful, vulgar and profane language, as well as racial epithets. A stand-up Philosopher and Hollywood Actor.
Peoria, Illinois, is a city in central Illinois, located on the Illinois River and known for its history, diverse economy, and cultural attractions. It’s a regional hub for agriculture, manufacturing, and healthcare.

This day I went to Google and typed in “The Best Restaurants in Peoria for Lunch or Brunch and Sugar Wood-Fired Bistro came up in the search. I realized that I wasn’t too far from it, so I proceeded to go there.
I entered for the first time and asked the lady up front what is the process of ordering a meal here and she said first you get a menu and choose what you want. Then order here and we will bring it to your table. I told her that I would like to do a food review and asked what is something on your menu that is visually appealing and taste great. She said the “Pesto Chicken Entree” and I said I would go with that.
THE PESTO CHICKEN comes with two Chicken Breast, Basil Pesto, Caramelized Onions, Bacon, Gouda, Roasted Baby Potatoes, Wood Fired Vegetables, Balsamic Reduction. I also ordered a Unsweetened Tea with Natural Cane Sugar added.
While I’m Anticipating the arrival of my entree, I can help but notice how clean this establishment is. It has a laid back feel to it. I like how the exposed brick and mortar esthetics gives a complement the name of this restaurant. It definitely reminds me of a backyard barbecue with a modern style.
The Pesto Chicken is fire!!!!

I couldn’t help be notice how well the dish was created. I love food that has an artistic value to it.
I first started with the Wood Fired Potatoes. They are very soft and tender. With a drizzle of Balsamic Reduction intentionally covered the potatoes, made for an excellent taste and the potatoes were Definitely not overcooked.
Then I tasted the Zucchini and Red Onions in the same manner and YES!, very delicious. The sweet and tangy flavor of the balsamic vinegar reduction was definitely the icing on the cake for this dish.
The chicken breast was covered with a layer of Caramelized Onions and a handsome amount of fresh Gouda Cheese. The Chicken Breast was baked to perfection. It was very tender and juicy with every bite.
I’m really enjoying the flavor combinations of this dish. The crunch of the caramelized onions followed by the soft, sweet and smoky flavor made me just salivate with the anticipation of the next bite.
The proportion size of this meal was so huge that I believe it would be a perfect meal to share with your significant other.
This is one of those meat and potato entrees that you have to try if you are in or visiting Peoria Illinois.
Whoever created this entree deserves an award and if you are taking your S/o on a date, I would definitely recommend this place.
I actually came in to do a food review on another entree but the waitress said that I would be very pleased with Pesto Chicken Entree and of course I got my prepared without Bacon. For $14.99 this is a steal. Well worth every dollar.
